A total of 70 women were killed across the country during the month of October, according to a statement released by the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU).
The BWU reported that the military junta has been conducting widespread acts of violence and has increasingly used airstrikes compared to previous months.
On the night of October 6, around 8 p.m., the junta forces dropped bombs using a paramotor and fired two 120mm artillery shells at a traditional Thadingyut festival candle light vigil taking place near the border between Monywa and Chaung U Townships, in the northern part of Chaung U Township.
The attack killed 22 people and injured as many as 55 others.
Similarly, in September, 47 women were also killed as a result of the junta’s violent actions.
