Fighting has resumed once again in the Hpakant area under Brigade (9) of the KIA.
Since March 3, clashes have reportedly broken out again between KIA joint forces and the Military Council troops around the Prayer Mountain area in Mashi Kahtawng, Hpakant.
The clashes occurred after Military Council troops advanced toward Rakhine Kone in Mashi Kahtawng Ward and toward Hpakant town, leading to contact battles with KIA allied forces.
Within the area, both Military Council troops and KIA forces have been exchanging heavy weapons fire. In addition, Military Council troops have reportedly been firing artillery shells and dropping drone bombs daily into areas where no fighting is taking place, resulting in daily civilian casualties.
Due to indiscriminate artillery attacks on areas without active fighting, on March 4 an elderly woman, 70 year old Daw Ja Hpa Lu, and another woman were injured.
