Myitkyina Airport, which has been closed for a long time due to a suicide drone attack, will resume operations starting March 9, according to airline ticket sales staff.

The airport has been closed since February 21 following the suicide drone attack. Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will resume flight operations on March 9, while Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) is expected to begin its flights on March 11.

Although reports initially stated that Myitkyina Airport would remain closed for about three months following the explosion, it will reopen after 17 days on March 9.

Due to the closure of Myitkyina Airport, people who urgently need to travel have been forced to use road transportation. As they frequently encounter forced porter recruitment along the routes, local residents said they hope the airport will reopen as soon as possible.
