In Myitkyina, Hpakant, and other areas in Kachin State, fuel stations have begun selling fuel in limited quantities since this morning. Some stations have closed, and only a small number of roadside vendors are currently operating, according to sources.

As a result, local residents rushed to buy fuel in the morning. At some stations, customers who came with containers to purchase fuel in bulk were refused. By the afternoon, many stations had already run out of fuel and closed their shops.

It is reported that the current fuel shortage is due to the lack of fuel imports through border checkpoints. Fuel is mainly imported into Myanmar from Singapore, and then transported into Kachin State via the Myanmar–China border through the Kan Paik Ti and Nan Si Aung checkpoints.

In addition, Thailand has suspended fuel exports due to the impact of the Iran war, leading to a sharp rise in fuel prices within Myanmar and making fuel increasingly difficult to purchase.

Consequently, fuel sales in Myitkyina and Hpakant are currently being restricted, and shortages are expected to continue. Local residents are expressing growing concern over the situation.

Meanwhile, the military council has issued a statement urging the public not to hoard fuel or sell it at inflated prices. The announcement cited disruptions along shipping routes caused by ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East, which have affected fuel imports. The authorities also called on the public to conserve fuel during this period.
