According to sources, intense clashes are continuing in areas outside Banmauk, which lies on the border between Kachin State and Sagaing Region, as the military launches offensive operations.
After regaining control of Banmauk Town, the military council and the Shan Ni Army (SNA) have continued their offensives against positions and bases controlled by resistance forces in areas outside the town.
Due to the intense clashes between the two sides, local residents estimate that around 80 percent of houses and buildings in the town have been damaged or destroyed.
As a result of the joint offensive by military council forces, Banmauk Town which had been under resistance control for about five months was lost again on February 8, and resistance forces were forced to withdraw.
Resistance forces had captured and taken control of Banmauk Town in late September 2025. However, due to renewed offensives by joint military council forces in February 2026, they were forced to relinquish control once again.
