Fighting is ongoing in the Mashi Ka Htaung area of Hpakant region, and it has been reported that junta joint forces are continuing their military offensive toward the Lone Khin area along the Kamaing–Hpakant road.

On February 18, troops under Military Operations Command (MOC) 3 based in Mogaung, along with allied Pyu Saw Htee militia forces led by Shahtu Zup and Min Zay Thant, advanced along the Kamaing–Hpakant road. Local residents are reportedly concerned that the military situation could suddenly intensify as a result.

The junta joint forces currently operating along the Kamaing–Hpakant road are said to be reinforcing weapons and ammunition supplies toward the Lone Khin area.

Military tensions in the Hpakant area began escalating around January 30 and lasted for more than two weeks. Although clashes between the two sides are currently calm, the junta continues to fire heavy artillery indiscriminately. On February 16, heavy weapons were reportedly fired from the Hpakant strategic hill.

Due to the military’s ongoing shelling attacks, artillery shells have been landing and exploding in civilian residential areas, causing civilian casualties and daily damage to homes and property.
