It has been reported that Myitkyina Airport, which had been temporarily closed, has now resumed normal flight operations as airlines have reopened and restarted services.
On the morning of February 12, the military council announced that the airport had been attacked using FPV suicide drones. Following the incident, all flight operations were suspended.
Two days after the temporary closure, the airport was reopened on February 14, and Mann Yadanarpon Airlines resumed its flight services.
The military council stated that a joint force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) had carried out drone attacks using FPV suicide drones targeting Myitkyina Airport and nearby areas in Pamati Ward, Myitkyina.
However, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) responded through Kachin News that they did not target locations unrelated to military operations, according to KIO Information Officer Colonel Naw Bu.
