The military council has issued an order from the National Defense and Security Council that private motor vehicles must be driven according to “even” and “odd” days based on their license plate numbers to conserve fuel. The council also warned that any violations of this order will result in action.
Due to the current global political situation, there have been disruptions and blockages along the waterways used for transporting fuel shipments, prompting this announcement to conserve petrol.
According to the statement, starting from 7 March 2026, vehicles with license plates ending in an “even” number will be allowed to operate on “even” days. During each month’s “even” days, vehicles with even-numbered license plates (e.g., 2A/4A, etc.) and on “odd” days, vehicles with odd-numbered license plates (e.g., 1A/3A, etc.) are allowed to operate. This rule applies only to privately-owned cars.
The military council’s regulation excludes electric vehicles, motorcycles, taxis, ambulances, fuel transport vehicles, municipal garbage trucks, and funeral vehicles.
It is stated that these regulations remain in effect until any further announcement is made, and violations will be dealt with according to the existing laws.
