In Kachin State, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps are facing a shortage of medical supplies and student materials, according to displaced persons. During the monsoon season, there has been a rise in cases of diarrhea and seasonal flu, and students are also lacking necessary school supplies.
At the Hpung Ngai Yan IDP camp, located between Myitkyina and Putao, there has been an increase in cases of diarrhea and seasonal flu. Residents report that they are facing difficulties due to insufficient medical supplies.
Although the government is providing some care since the area is under KIA control, the situation remains dire and support from external humanitarian organizations is still urgently needed.
Similarly, at the Pa Kahtawng IDP camp, also under KIA control, there is a shortage of school materials such as desks, chairs, and other necessary items, making it difficult for students to continue their education.
At the Dinggum Yang IDP camp, where residents from Waingmaw and Hkanan areas have taken refuge, the recent heavy rains have damaged makeshift shelters, leaving people in urgent need of emergency assistance.
Currently, IDP camps are in need of umbrellas and school supplies, and due to the monsoon season, there is a recurring outbreak of diarrhea and seasonal flu, leading to a pressing need for medical supplies and other forms of aid.
Due to ongoing daily clashes in Kachin State, the number of internally displaced persons has surpassed 200,000 and continues to rise. However, aid and support have been decreasing, according to reports.
