Shwe Nyaung Pin Village, located along the Waimaw-Laiza road in Waimaw Township, Kachin State, was attacked by airstrikes carried out by the military council, causing a bomb to explode at a car workshop. As a result, one civilian was killed and two others were injured, according to sources.
The airstrike was carried out by military aircraft at around 5:00 p.m. on February 4. The bomb directly hit a car workshop in Shwe Nyaung Pin Village, destroying many cars and motorcycles by fire.
“Because the bomb fell on the car workshop, almost all the vehicles being repaired there were affected. Cars, motorcycles, and people were hit, and many vehicles were burned and destroyed. The injured victims were sent to Laiza Hospital,” a local resident said.
In addition, military council forces also carried out airstrikes near the Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 321 base in Shwe Nyaung Pin, which had been seized by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), on February 2.
Since February 2, clashes in Waimaw Township have intensified as military columns resumed their advance. Airstrikes by the military, civilian casualties, and damage to houses and buildings have been continuously reported.
