Fighting continues between the two sides in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State, and the KIA has reportedly captured two security outposts of Light Infantry Battalion (58), which is based in Waingmaw, according to military sources.

Clashes in Waingmaw Township have intensified again since early February. Joint KIA forces have reportedly seized several positions where junta troops were stationed, as well as security outposts belonging to Light Infantry Battalion (58).

In the current fighting in Waingmaw, joint KIA forces are carrying out offensive operations, while the military junta is reinforcing its troops and continuing artillery shelling from the Northern Regional Military Command.

The joint KIA forces have been carrying out an offensive to capture Waingmaw town since late 2023, and have reportedly seized battalion headquarters including Light Infantry Battalion (321), along with military bases, drones, tanks, and large quantities of weapons.
