A total of 14 clashes occurred within one week in the battlefront areas of Bhamaw, Waimaw, Hpakant, and territories under KIA Brigade 11 in Kachin State, according to a statement released by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Kachin Independence Organization/Army (KIO/KIA).
From May 17 to May 23, the military council forces reportedly carried out daily attacks on the battlefronts in Bhamaw, Waimaw, and Hpakant using aircraft, drones, and heavy artillery. Within the week, there were more than 25 drone bomb attacks and over 87 heavy artillery shelling incidents, the statement said.
The majority of airstrikes and artillery attacks were reported on the Bhamaw battlefront.
Due to advancing military operations by the junta forces, there was one defensive clash on the Bhamaw front, three clashes in the Hpakant area under Brigade 9 territory, and ten clashes in Brigade 11 territory.
In addition, tensions remain high as the military council continues not only ground offensives but also aerial attacks using drones and heavy weapons.
During the previous week, nearly 13 clashes and defensive battles were reported between the military council forces and the allied KIA coalition forces in Kachin region.
