According to a statement from the KIA News Agency, a total of at least 15 clashes took place across various regions in Kachin State, specifically in Hpakant, Bhamo, and Waimaw over the past week, as intense daily confrontations continue.
In Bhamo region, although there were no ground troop movements, the area experienced daily attacks via airstrikes, drones, and heavy artillery. Within the seven-day period, there were 58 drone attacks, 24 air bombings, and up to 366 artillery shellings.
The most intense attack reportedly occurred on July 18 in the Bhamo area alone, with 14 airstrikes, 27 drone bombings, and 163 artillery shellings carried out in just a single day.
In the Waimaw, Lamyang area, military tensions heightened as junta forces actively advanced through the region. Continuous assaults using heavy artillery and drone bombs were reported daily. Due to the escalating military operations, key routes like Waingmaw-Nan Zaw Yang Road and Washawng Road were shut down earlier in July, significantly hindering transportation.
Elsewhere, in Khat Cho and Dar Jang villages, junta troops were also seen advancing, triggering fierce confrontations. Whenever troop movements were detected in Waimaw-Lamyang, Khat Cho and Da Jang, heavy artillery was reportedly fired in support from Myitkyina’s Northern Command base.
In Hpakant, military tensions remain high, with airstrikes and artillery shelling extending to civilian villages. In addition, in areas like Inn Daw Gyi, Nant Mun, and Main Naung, the Shanni militia has been observed inspecting civilians, causing many residents to flee and take shelter elsewhere.
