After being closed for more than a month, Myitkyina Airport will resume all flight operations, according to information from airline ticket sales agents.

Although the airport is reopening, flights will operate only on the Myitkyina-Yangon route on April 4, 5, and 8, as confirmed by a ticket sales agent.

“On the 4th, there will be an Air Thanlwin flight, and on the 7th, an MAI flight. On the 5th and 8th, MNA will operate. All seats are already fully booked. For now, only these dates are available, and we don’t yet know when additional flights will be scheduled,” the source said.

In addition to Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), Air KBZ (KBZ Airlines) and Air Thanlwin will also operate flights. Ticket prices are reportedly over 900,000 kyats for the Myitkyina-Yangon route and over 700,000 kyats for the Mandalay-Myitkyina route.

Although the Military Council’s Ministry of Transport and Communications had announced that flights to difficult-to-access areas, including Myitkyina and Putao airports, would resume starting March 25, it is now known that only the Myitkyina-Yangon route will begin operating from April 4.

Due to the suspension of flights, travelers have had to rely solely on road transportation, which has been inconvenient because of travel delays, strict security checks along routes, and forced collections. As a result, the public has been calling for the urgent reopening of air travel.
