16 Day Campaign Held to Mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

It is reported that women and youth from the Laiza area also took part in the 16 Day activism campaign organized to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is being observed worldwide.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is commemorated globally from November 25 to December 10, and women from the Laiza area also organized activities led by the Kachin Gender Star Group, the Laiza Women’s Affairs Committee, youths, and women leaders from the Je Yang IDP camp.
November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, while the ending day of the campaign, December 10, is celebrated as International Human Rights Day.
The campaign activities included distributing educational pamphlets, putting up campaign stickers, wearing white ribbons, disseminating information about the 16 day activism, asking random quiz questions and giving gifts, as well as organizing campaign dances and other activities.
It is reported that through this campaign, educational awareness was raised for an estimated 5,000 people including IDPs, local residents, CDM/KIO/KIA and allied staff, and students in Laiza and Je Yang.
