16 People, Including 7 Women, Killed in Kachin State Within Two Months

In Kachin State, a total of 16 people 7 women and 9 men were killed within just over two months due to the actions of the military council, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
The reported deaths occurred between July 1 and September 24. Among the victims were 4 children under the age of 18.
Of those killed, 12 died due to heavy artillery shelling by the military council, while 4 others were killed in airstrikes. In addition, the bodies of 27 more victims still remain to be officially confirmed, the report stated.
On September 22, at around 6 p.m., Kyaw Soe and his son Htoo Htoo San from Kyauk Dwe Taung village in the Hpakant-Saik Mu village tract were killed when bombs dropped by junta forces stationed at a strategic hill in Hpakant struck them.
Since early September until now, the junta has continued to carry out daily aerial surveillance flights, drone deployments, and heavy artillery fire. Artillery shelling from Myitkyina toward the Waimaw area has also continued.
