According to a statement released by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) / Kachin Independence Army (KIA), a total of 25 clashes occurred within one week along the Bhamaw, Waingmaw, and Hpakant frontlines, as well as in areas under the control of KIA’s Brigade 7, Brigade 8, and Brigade 1.

From April 26 to May 2, the military council forces reportedly carried out daily attacks on the Bhamaw, Waingmaw, and Hpakant fronts using aircraft, drones, and heavy artillery. Within that week, there were more than 37 drone bombings and over 150 heavy artillery shellings, according to the statement.

The heaviest aerial bombardments and artillery attacks reportedly took place on the Bhamaw frontline.

Due to advancing ground offensives by the military council forces, clashes occurred as follows: two defensive battles on the Bhamaw frontline, one clash on the Brigade 8 frontline, three clashes near Nam Ya and Nam Ma in the Hpakant area, 15 clashes in the Brigade 7 area, and three clashes in Wadat village under Brigade 1.

In addition, the military council continues to conduct both ground offensives and aerial attacks using drones and heavy artillery, resulting in ongoing heightened military tensions in the region.

In total, nearly 30 engagements and defensive battles were reported between the military council forces and combined KIA forces during the past week.
