28 Civilians Killed in Kachin This Year Due to the Military Junta

In Kachin State, a total of 28 civilians have been killed this year due to killings carried out by the military commission, according to records documented with names by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
Among the victims was one child under the age of 18. Bhamaw Township recorded the highest number of deaths with 16 civilians killed, while Hpakant recorded the second highest with 8 deaths. The data was compiled from January to May of this year.
In addition, due to airstrikes carried out by the military commission between May 1 and May 21, a total of 27 civilians nationwide, including 6 women and 21 men were killed. Among them were 7 children under the age of 18, including a 5 month old baby boy.
Chin State recorded the highest number of deaths with 8 people killed, while Bago Region recorded the second highest with 7 deaths. It is also reported that 26 additional civilian deaths still need further verification.
