It has been reported that a total of 28 individuals involved in drug dealing and usage, along with narcotics and related materials, were arrested in October through joint anti narcotic operations conducted by the People Based Anti Drug Committee and the KIO Anti Drug Committee.

Among the seized items were 389 yaba tablets, 9 bottles of heroin, as well as drug use equipment and a significant amount of cash. The arrested suspects and confiscated items were handed over to the concerned authorities.

In the Hpakant area alone, 14 drug users and 9 drug dealers were apprehended, along with 4,918 yaba tablets, 17 packs of raw yaba, black opium, 5 small heroin pipes, 8 large heroin pipes, as well as mobile phones, motorbikes, and cash.

The KIO administration has declared narcotic drugs as a common enemy of all ethnic nationalities and continues to implement regular arrests and enforcement actions each month as part of its anti drug campaign. According to the Anti Drug Committee, these efforts also aim to reduce drug abuse among the public, especially among youth.
