According to data compiled by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), from October 1 to 21, a total of 29 civilians, 18 women and 11 men were killed in Shan State due to attacks by the military junta.
Among the deceased were eight children under the age of 18, including a two year old boy. All the victims reportedly died as a result of airstrikes carried out by the junta’s forces. In addition, 13 more civilian deaths are still being verified, according to the report.
On October 18, the junta launched an airstrike using heavy bombs on San He village in Nam San Township, Shan State, killing six civilians on the spot ,five women and one man including a 10 year old child.
Since the military’s illegal coup, anti-junta resistance movements have spread nationwide. In response, the junta has continued to use military force to suppress the resistance, conducting airstrikes even in areas where no clashes are occurring.
Similarly, in Kachin State, since early September until today, daily reports continue of junta aircraft flying, drones being deployed, and artillery shelling. Artillery support fire from Myitkyina toward the Waimaw area has also continued.
