Armed clashes in Kachin State have been escalating daily, and within the past week alone, there were a total of 31 encounters between the military council and armed resistance forces in Bhamaw, Waimaw, and Hpakant areas.
In Bhamaw, the military carried out heavy aerial bombardments, with a total of 101 airstrikes, 41 drone bomb attacks, and 342 artillery shellings within the week. Frontline sources reported significant casualties on the junta’s side, while KIA and allied forces also suffered fatalities and injuries during the clashes.
In the Waimaw–Lamyang area, the junta continued launching ground offensives, leading to ongoing intense fighting. Near Khat Cho and Da Jang, battles broke out when junta forces attempted advances into areas controlled by KIA troops.
The situation in Hpakant has also remained tense with near daily confrontations, but instead of ground clashes in the vicinity of the KIO headquarters region, aerial bombardments were reported. On September 29, an airstrike on Sadung caused the deaths of 11 people, with another 6 currently receiving medical treatment.
