43 Civilians Killed in 12 Days, Says AAPP

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) has announced that a total of 43 civilians- 12 women and 31 men were killed due to the actions of the military junta between December 1 and December 12.
According to the statement, among the fatalities, 34 people were killed as a result of airstrikes carried out by the military junta, the highest number of deaths recorded during this period. In addition, five people were killed by heavy artillery shelling. The statement also noted that the bodies of 74 civilians whose deaths still require confirmation remain unverified.
Previously, on December 8, despite there being no clashes, the military junta forces stationed at the strategic hill in Hpakant town fired heavy artillery shells into areas of Hpakant. As a result, shells landed and exploded in Malawng village, Lon Khin village, causing shrapnel to strike and kill three members of a family on the spot: the father Ko Zaw Lin Oo, the mother Ma Tin Moe Hlaing, and their son Maung Phyo Wai Htun.
In addition, AAPP further reported that 121 people have been politically arrested under election related laws, including 84 individuals whose cases are still under verification.
