51 Women Killed Nationwide in November

According to a statement released by the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU), a total of 51 women were killed across the country during the month of November.
The causes of death included junta airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks, extrajudicial killings, landmine explosions, conflict-related sexual violence, and torture inside prisons, the statement said.
Among the 51 women killed, 6 were under the age of 18, and an additional 57 women were injured.
In Kachin State alone, 3 women were reported killed, while Rakhine State recorded the highest number of deaths at 16. Sagaing Region reported 10 deaths, followed by 9 deaths in Mandalay Region.
Significant incidents in November included:
On November 4, three soldiers from the junta’s Bogyoke Naung Training School and Light Infantry Battalion 124 gang-raped and murdered an 18 year old woman from Sane Kone village in Than Taung Gyi Township.
On November 7, four women were killed when the junta carried out airstrikes on Aung Phyu Pyin village and Yoe Taryoke village in Pauktaw Township, Rakhine State.
