In a statement released on October 8, 2025, Nyan Lin Thit reported that a total of 637 people had been killed in mass executions across the country within the four month period from May to August, as incidents involving more than five victims continued to rise daily.

Mass killing incidents occurred in 38 locations nationwide, involving civilian casualties caused by the military council, resistance forces, and unidentified armed groups. Among the 68 incidents recorded, 66 were reportedly carried out by the military council.

The majority of these took place due to airstrikes, with 39 such events recorded. The second most frequent cause was military operations, accounting for 13 incidents, followed by five cases of civilians being killed during clashes. These mass killings occurred not only in areas where battles broke out between the military council, Pyu Saw Htee militias, and resistance forces, but also during military raids.

In many cases, civilians were subjected to arbitrary arrests, women were sexually assaulted, villages were burned down, and people were taken as human shields. According to records, the numbers of people killed in mass executions were 570 in 2021, 612 in 2022, 939 in 2023, 1,484 in 2024, and 1,122 up to August 2025.

In Kachin State, reports from KHRW indicated that 19 people were killed in September alone due to the military council’s use of airstrikes, heavy artillery, and drone bombings.
