Due to airstrikes and violent attacks by the military junta, a total of 64 women were killed and 80 others were injured during the month of July, according to the Women's Documentation by the Women's League of Burma (WLB).
The causes of death and injury among women include airstrikes, heavy artillery shelling, lack of access to medical treatment, landmine explosions, and also sexual violence linked to ongoing conflicts.
Since the military coup attempt on February 1, 2021, the violent junta regime has, over the past four years, committed numerous war crimes, crimes against humanity, and continuous human rights violations through various means.
In recent weeks, the military has increasingly relied on airstrikes, more so than in previous months, to carry out widespread acts of violence.
As a result, the percentage of women killed in July was reported to be nearly double compared to that in June.
