75 Children Killed Within Four Months Due to the Terrorist Military Junta

A total of 75 children under the age of 18 were killed across Myanmar between January 1 and the end of April 2026 due to the actions of the military junta, according to a statement released yesterday, May 12, by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).


Among those killed were 39 boys and 36 girls under the age of 18, including a two-month-old baby boy, bringing the total number of child deaths to 75.


Bago Region recorded the highest number of child deaths with 25 fatalities, while Sagaing Region recorded the second highest with 16 deaths.


According to the report, airstrikes carried out by the military junta were the leading cause of death, killing 48 children. Another 17 children reportedly died after being arrested and killed by junta forces.


The AAPP also stated that from the unlawful military coup on February 1, 2021, up to May 12, 2026, a total of 8,039 pro-democracy activists and civilians were killed during the Spring Revolution due to the terrorist military junta and its affiliates.


In addition, a total of 30,966 people were arrested in connection with opposing the unlawful military coup. Among them, 14,204 individuals are confirmed to still be detained, while the status of another 7,874 detainees remains under verification.
