A Woman and a Child Injured by Military’s Heavy Artillery in Lungkhin Village Tract

A woman and a child were injured in a heavy artillery strike in Year Ma Village of Lungkhin Village Tract, Hpakant, Kachin State, on November 14, according to local sources.
“A shell fell inside the village yesterday. I heard about it, but I didn’t go to see it myself. I heard that a female teacher and a child were injured. I don’t know their names,” said a man living in Hpakant.
The heavy artillery fired indiscriminately by the military council from Byuha Hill reportedly exploded near the Hmokyo school area around 12:30 pm, seriously injuring a female schoolteacher.
Another artillery shell also landed and exploded in the village, injuring a young child.
In Hpakant area, indiscriminate artillery fire and airstrikes by the military commission have continued to kill and injure civilians. On November 12, a mother was killed and a child was injured when a Y-12 aircraft conducted a bombing raid.
