A Woman Killed by Landmine Explosion in Maw Si Zar

A woman was killed by a landmine explosion at around 11 a.m. yesterday in Maw Si Zar village, Hpakant Township.

The deceased woman, believed to be around 20 years old, was reportedly riding a motorbike behind a vehicle belonging to the Military Commission along the main Mawsi Zar road when a landmine, planted and detonated by the Military Commission side, exploded and killed her instantly, according to local sources.

Efforts are underway to identify the woman; however, communication difficulties due to phone and internet disruptions have made it challenging to confirm her identity.

Locals are warning one another to exercise caution as military activities continue in the Hpakant area.
