Following heavy rainfall in Kachin State, landslides have blocked several sections of the Myitkyina-Chiphwi-Pangwa road, causing severe travel disruptions. Currently, drivers are manually clearing the roads to make them passable, according to local truckers.

"These past few days, heavy rains have caused landslides between Chiphwi and Pangwa, blocking roads. Additionally, between Chiphwi and Myitkyina, flooding has made travel extremely difficult," said a driver operating the Myitkyina-Pangwa route.

At Mile 59 on the Chiphwi-Pangwa road, heavy rains triggered landslides, completely blocking the route. Travelers and drivers have now temporarily dug out a single-lane path to allow vehicles to pass. Efforts are also underway to improve the temporary road using bulldozers for smoother travel.

"The landslide blocking the road at Mile 59 between Chiphwi and Pangwa has forced us to manually clear a single-lane path for vehicles. We still need to properly repair the road using bulldozers to restore normal traffic," the driver added.

Meanwhile, the Chiphwi-Waingmaw road section has also suffered landslides, making travel difficult. Only small vehicles can currently pass, while larger trucks remain unable to proceed.

Flooding has displaced many residents, who are in urgent need of assistance. Additionally, locals fear that prolonged road blockages could lead to shortages of essential goods.
