Due to the military junta’s intensified aerial attacks on civilian areas, the Myanmar Women’s Union (BWU) has called on the international community to stop providing assistance and support to the coup regime (SAC), according to reports.
The coup regime has been continuously carrying out targeted attacks against civilians, resulting in the deaths of a large number of innocent people. BWU stated that last year, 792 women were killed as a result of the military’s attacks, with 70 percent of those deaths caused by airstrikes.
Currently, intensified military offensives are also ongoing in several areas of Kachin State, including Bhamaw, Hpakant, Waimaw, Putao, and Tanai. Over the past week alone, 22 clashes between the two sides were reported.
In addition, BWU has urged ASEAN and the international community to help cut off international support for the junta forces, which continue to commit abuses with impunity. This includes ending political backing, economic cooperation, and the sale of weapons, military equipment, and jet fuel to the military.
