During the ongoing clashes in Kachin State, it was reported that the junta forces, which have been relying heavily on air attacks, dropped bombs twice on Gara Yang Village at around 3 p.m. on October 8.

“At about 3 p.m. yesterday, bombs were dropped from aircraft. After losing the battle near Lamyang Village, they came back and bombed the area. The airstrikes targeted the old military camp that they had previously abandoned, the place they lost control of in 2024, which is now occupied by the resistance forces. I haven’t heard of any casualties,” said a local resident.

Analysts say that the military is conducting intense offensives to reoccupy the positions it lost in previous years and has been using airstrikes to destroy areas they fail to recapture. Due to the military’s airstrikes, many civilians have been killed or injured, and KIO government schools operating within KIA controlled territories remain closed as a result of ongoing air threats.

In recent days, the KIA News Department stated that the army not only targeted active battle zones but also carried out air attacks deep within KIA brigade areas, urging all to stay alert.
