In recent days, the Myanmar military has repeatedly carried out ground offensives, airstrikes, and artillery attacks in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State, even in areas where no active clashes have been reported. Tensions between the military and resistance forces remain high.

On the night of June 23, the military conducted an airstrike on Gwi Rut Yang village, Wa Shawng village, reportedly damaging civilian homes and injuring two civilians. However, due to communication difficulties, independent verification of casualties has not been possible.

Similarly, around 10 p.m. on June 22, a Y-12 military aircraft bombed areas near Lamyang and Wa Shawng villages, despite no fighting occurring at the time.

On the same day, the military stationed at Hpakant fired artillery without provocation.

Currently, the military continues to advance ground troops into Waingmaw and Hpakant, using heavy artillery and airstrikes, resulting in ongoing civilian casualties and property damage.

Locals report that near the Dingri creek, close to the Waingmaw-Minna IDP camp, the military has set up positions, restricting civilian movement and extorting money at checkpoints.

These patterns reflect a broader trend of the Myanmar military relying increasingly on airpower and artillery, even in areas without direct conflict, often impacting civilians and their homes.
