Airstrikes into Laiza, the KIA headquarters, are still on going

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the SAC have been fighting continuously since the morning of March 7th yesterday, and the KIO/KIA headquarters in Laiza town has been facing heavy artilleries and airstrikes bombardment from the SAC military base til this evening, according to local residents.


A local resident said, "They have been launching airstrikes since last night. They are firing heavy artillery from the Nahpaw Mountain military council base. Some of the weapons landed on the Chinese border and exploded," he said.


According to local residents, when heavy weapons were fired into Laiza town from the Nahpaw Mountain military base near the KIA headquarters, they exploded at least 3 times at the Chinese side. And there was also an explosion in the city of Laiza.


As a result, the people in the area had to flee to a safe place close to them, and some of them fled to Mai Ja Yang.


In addition, there are people who have been hit by weapons and injured due to the explosions of heavy weapons and buildings have been also damaged.


The KIA launched a simultaneous attack on the SAC base stationed near Laiza and some of the SAC outposts along the Myitkyina-Bhamo road. And the clashes are still intensified.
