Anti-Election Public Movement Conducted in Hpakant Area

It has been reported that in Hpakant area, Kachin State, strike groups organized an anti-election public movement on December 8, opposing the junta organized election which is being supported, assisted, and encouraged by the Chinese government.


In addition, the Hpakant Area Strike Committee urged the public across the entire country to participate in a nationwide silent strike on December 10 as a collective act of resistance against the election planned by the military.


Strike committees in Hpakant area also carried out activities such as posting anti-election stickers and distributing pamphlets to raise public awareness against the illegal election.


It is also reported that in order to enable the holding of the election, junta forces have been conducting airstrike operations not only in Hpakant but also in Waimaw-Lamyang, Putao Township, and Bhamaw Township in Kachin State.
