Artillery Shell Explodes in Myitkyina City Injuring Two Children

Two children were injured when an artillery shell exploded inside the compound of a residence in Ayeyar Ward, Myitkyina City, Kachin State, according to officials from the ward.

The artillery shell exploded at around 4 a.m. yesterday morning. The two children sustained shrapnel wounds, and the residence also suffered damage caused by the shell fragments.

"Around 4 a.m. this morning, an artillery shell exploded at a house where two children were injured. The house was also damaged by shrapnel," said a ward official yesterday.

It is still unclear from where the artillery shell was fired, and investigations are ongoing.

Previously, on April 25, an artillery shell exploded in Thitar Ward, Myitkyina City, at around midnight, killing two people and injuring another.
