In Kachin State, during the month of July 2025, there were up to twenty (20) clashes between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) allied forces and the military council troops, along with as many as nine (9) airstrike incidents, according to BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor.
The total of around 20 clashes took place in Bhamaw, Hpakant, Mohnyin, and Waimaw areas.
Nationwide, there were around 130 clashes, ninety-seven (97) airstrikes by the military council, with about 37,000 people internally displaced. Civilian fatalities have reached 297, while 417 civilians were injured, according to the report.
Clashes between the two sides remain intense in Bhamaw, and KIA allied forces have managed to control most parts of Bhamaw town.
However, areas including SKK 21, Bhamaw University compound, the Township General Administration Department office, Win Light Hotel compound, and Myit Sone Hotel area are still seeing heavy fighting at present.
Currently ongoing battles have seen the military using aircraft, drone bombs, and advanced machine guns to carry out continuous day-and-night attacks, while KIA forces are continuing counteroffensives.
In addition, in Hpakant area, military council troops are stationed along the Kamai–Nam Ya–Hpakant road route, tightening inspections on civilians traveling through. It is reported that strict checks on names, vehicle license plates, and NRC cards are being conducted at checkpoints such as upper part of Ma U Pin, Kyaukhtu, Nam Ya, Nan Tint, and Lapyin Gate, among others.
