At least five jade mine workers were killed after a landslide occurred at a jade mining site in Maw Si Sar Ward, Hpakant Township, according to sources.

The incident happened yesterday, March 17, at around 3:30 PM, when a pile of mining waste collapsed at the Sein Sein jade mining site in Hpakant's Maw Si Sa area. As a result, at least five mine workers were buried under the landslide.

Responsible authorities are currently carrying out rescue operations to recover those trapped in the landslide. The exact number of people buried remains unknown, and rescue efforts are still ongoing.

Landslides frequently occur in the Hpakant area every year, often resulting in fatalities. Previously, on February 16, a similar landslide at a jade mining site in Kade Mining area killed at least 20 scavengers.
