The battle to seize Bhamo continues to intensify, with revolutionary forces launching fierce assaults while the SAC is setting fire to residential homes and public properties, according to a report by the Kachin Human Rights Watch (KHRW).

Yesterday, April 29, around 3 PM, the SAC troops set fire to the Thiri Yadana market in Bhamo, causing flames to spread to nearby civilian homes and public areas, resulting in widespread destruction.

Currently, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied revolutionary forces are relentlessly attacking Bhamo, while the SAC is fiercely resisting in an attempt to retain control of the town.

Additionally, revolutionary forces have captured most of the SAC’s outposts, and heavy clashes continue as they attempt to seize the remaining bases of Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 47 and Military Operations Command (MOC) 21.

On April 19, SAC troops and allied Pyusawhti militias also burned down Lawa village along the Ledo Road in Hpakant Township. Local sources report that over 200 civilian homes were destroyed in the arson attack.

KHRW further stated that the military council has increasingly resorted to burning civilian homes and public properties in Kachin State this year, escalating its violent tactics against the population.
