Near Tanja Village, Lung Sha Yang, Putao District, a direct clash lasting two hours occurred yesterday, October 12, around 2 p.m., between KIA allied revolutionary forces and the military council troops.
It has been reported that locals fled to nearby safer areas. “The exact details of the battle are not yet known. People around the vicinity of the fighting immediately ran toward Putao side, where many locals work on farms. Everyone had to flee,” said a local resident of Tanja Village.
The clash took place near Tanja Village, at Ndawng and Tarwa hills, which the source explained is a new camp site recently established by the military council and the militia allied forces.“The military just expanded and set up a new camp there about a month ago.
It is about 2 miles from the village. Groups that were previously in the village have now relocated. Since this area is frequently used by KIA and allied forces for movement, the clash likely happened because they encountered each other head on,” he added.
Tanja Village is located on the Putao-Myitkyina road and is known as an area where fighting between both sides frequently occurs. After a battle in early June 2023, another direct clash happened yesterday.
