Bhamaw Fighting Continues to Intensify

Fighting has continued to intensify on a daily basis in the Bhamaw area, with the most severe clashes reported around the Bhamaw University compound and the vicinity of the Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 47 base, according to sources.

The military junta is reportedly carrying out attacks mainly using aircraft and drone bombs, while continuing to reinforce the area with weapons and additional troops.

The fighting in Bhamaw resumed once again on December 25. During the clashes, casualties were reported on the military side, including officers at the rank of major. In addition, two aircraft- one helicopter and one fighter jet stationed in Myitkyina were reportedly shot down and destroyed.

As the Bhamaw conflict has now extended for more than a year, KIA led joint forces are said to be continuing their sustained offensive operations in an effort to fully seize control of Bhamaw town.
