In the battle for Bhamaw, Kachin State, some areas of the town have reportedly been abandoned by the joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) due to intense airstrikes and drone attacks from the junta forces, according to military news sources.

The abandoned sites reportedly include the Artillery Battalion (366) base and the airfield, according to some reports. However, a frontline news source said the following:

“They’re saying it’s certain that 366 has been seized. Even people coming from Mansi yesterday said so. They said soldiers told them about it. They say it was taken about a week ago. But they’re not saying anything about the airfield, they don’t confirm whether it’s taken.” said a source who wished to remain anonymous.

According to the same source, the KIA may have abandoned the base after the junta forces, reinforced by arriving naval vessels, conducted continuous and intense assaults using modern military equipment.

Pro junta Telegram groups have also been seen spreading some photos celebrating what they call the “Bhamaw victory.”

On July 17, a fleet of 17 junta naval vessels transporting rice from Mandalay arrived at Shwegu, but six of them were intercepted and destroyed by resistance forces. On August 1, the remaining nine vessels reached Bhamaw.

These naval fleets reportedly transported large quantities of military weapons and ammunition. Soon after their arrival in Bhamaw on August 1, the junta began launching ground offensives from August 4 onward, involving airstrikes, drones, and ground troops, resulting in fierce clashes between the two sides.
