Bhamaw Township Declared as Area Where Elections Cannot Be Held

The Union Election Commission (UEC) has announced that Bhamaw Township in Kachin State cannot hold elections for Part (3).


The Election Commission had previously announced in December that Part (3) of the elections would be held in Kachin State, including Bhamaw Township, as well as Mansi, Momauk, Shwegu, and Hpakant Townships


Part (3) of the elections is scheduled to be held on 25 January, but today it was announced that Bhamaw Township will be an area where elections cannot be conducted.


According to the UEC, the announcement includes the following wards and villages within Bhamaw Township: Khun Tar Ward, Myoma Ward, Alae Ward, Min Kung Ward, Pauk Kung Ward, Min Kyaung Kung Ward, Nampha Ward, Shwe Kyi Nar Ward, Shwe Pyi Thar Ward, Hante Ward, and Khojin Village.
