Bus lines have officially begun operating from Laiza, the headquarters town of the KIO/KIA in Kachin State, to Mai Ja Yang, Gara Yang, and Myothit, making travel more convenient for local residents and travelers, according to sources.

Starting from May 16, the bus lines began operating on scheduled routes and within designated times. The KIO stated that arranging these passenger bus services aims to benefit people traveling within the region.

Following the renewed fighting between the Myanmar military and the KIA in 2011, all entry and exit roads to Laiza were blocked by the military, making it difficult for people to travel from Laiza to other towns.

Local residents said they are pleased that the KIO has arranged regional passenger bus services, as it benefits both public transportation and local trade activities.

The bus fare from Laiza to Mai Ja Yang is 200 Chinese Yuan (¥200) per person, while the fare from Laiza to Gara Yang and Myothit is 10,000 Kyats per person.
