According to the Kachin State Government Office, meetings aimed at campaigning and mobilizing public support regarding the Ayeyarwady Myitsone Hydropower Project are being organized by members of the Kachin State Local Committee not only in Myitkyina but also as far as the Putao region.

On May 18, committee members met with local Rawang and Lisu ethnic communities in Putao. On May 19, both morning and afternoon sessions were reportedly held at the Phone Kan Razi Hall in Putao, where meetings were conducted with local Jinghpaw and Shan ethnic communities.

It is reported that members of the state government, including Minister for Planning, Economy and Finance U Chan Tan Khin, ethnic affairs ministers, parliamentary representatives, departmental officials, and technical experts attended the discussions and presented explanations regarding the project.

Members of the Kachin State Local Committee U Tun Tun Hlaing, U Naw Htoi, U Mun Ring Naw, and U Jan Hkun (also known as U Naw Hkun) reportedly discussed matters related to hydropower and shared information considered important for the public to know.

Around 560 local ethnic residents reportedly attended the campaign meetings. However, some local residents stated that no matter how many relocation and campaigning efforts are carried out, they would never agree to the project.
