It has been reported that on the full moon night of Thadin Gyut, October 6, a candlelight protest against the military dictatorship was held in Hpakant, Kachin State.
Residents of Hpakant lit candles on the Thadin Gyut full moon night to honor the fallen heroes who died in the revolutionary struggle. They prayed earnestly for the health and safe release of Daw Aung San Su Kyi and all political prisoners. In addition, they called on all Myanmar citizens to firmly oppose and dismantle the sham elections organized by the military commission.
They also urged continued participation and support in the national struggle. Prayers were offered for the end of the military’s violent acts and for the eternal standing of the Dhamma (truth and justice).
Similar Thadin Gyut full moon candlelight protests to commemorate the revolution were held separately by protest groups and local residents in Kachin State, Sagaing Region, and Kayin State.
