Child Disappearances on the Rise in Myitkyina; Some Found Dead

A local from Myitkyina, Kachin State, reports that the sudden disappearance of young children is increasing in the city, and there are now cases of children being found dead.
Ma Labu Mary Nang Zin, a 6 year old girl from Nawng Nang village in Myitkyina, went missing on the afternoon of September 2nd. Three days later, yesterday, she was found dead.
When the young girl's body was discovered, it was found that she had been brutally murdered. The body was found in a jungle area near her home, and it was in a state of severe decomposition, to the point of being almost unrecognizable.
Furthermore, a brother and sister aged 14 and 10 from the Chinese school in Shwe Zet ward, also went missing on the morning of September 3rd around 6 AM after being sent to buy fermented beans. Requests were posted on social media pages asking to be informed if they were found.
Similarly, on July 19th of this year, a 4 year old girl named Ma Ja Seng Noi from Ward (1) in Shadau village tract was taken away by two men and has been out of contact and missing since.
Locals say that not only are child disappearances becoming more frequent in Myitkyina, but also that during this time of political turmoil, child and human trafficking is increasing, making it a critical time for parents and the public to be especially vigilant.
As also highlighted by the Kachin Human Rights Watch (KHRW), the people of Kachin State are currently facing human rights violations through various means. Locals state that they are frequently encountering news of organized robberies, murders, and missing persons.
