Child Killed and Four Injured in Military Airstrike

The military council is continuing its offensive along the Waimaw–Lamyang area. Due to an airstrike, one civilian was killed and four others were injured.


On the afternoon of August 31, an air bomb attack took place, killing a six year old child named Ma Hkawng Naw. The injured include 25 year old Ma Ze Nyoi, 15 year old Ma Ze Yan, 54 year old U Sayaw Lum Hkawng, and 36 year old U Ting Bawm.


The victims are local residents from Lamyang, Nam Wa-Mukchyik village tract, and were hit while traveling on the road.


A frontline source from Waimaw said, “In the Lamyang area, the fighting is very intense. Since last week, the military council troops had stationed themselves at Lamyang Lhaovo Church, but the KIA has now taken it back. Both sides are still engaged in heavy fighting.”


Political analysts state that the military council is launching intense offensives in Waimaw area to regain control of the area before the upcoming elections.


In recent days, it has also been reported that in Myitkyina, from the Northern Command Headquarters, heavy artillery fire is being launched daily, causing increasing civilian casualties.
