Clashes Erupt in Hpakant, Kachin State, Locals Forced to Flee for Safety

It has been reported that intense clashes continue to occur between the KIA and military council joint forces in the Hpakant area.

Since 8 a.m. on July 4, heavy fighting has broken out between the KIA joint forces and military council joint forces in the area between Inma Yang Cemetery Hill and Sutbum area.

It is further reported that military bases stationed at Hpakant Byuha Hill and Ginsi village are providing artillery support to the fighting areas.

As a result, residents from Inn Inma Yang and sutbum villages have been fleeing to safer areas since yesterday, and clashes between the two sides are ongoing as of today.
