Clashes Erupt Near Pinlon Village, Intense Inspections Underway

Clashes broke out near Pinlon Village, which is located around halfway between Pinbaw Model Village and Kanta, in Pinbaw, Mogaung Township, according to a local resident from the Kun Taungyi region. The fighting involved the military council troops and the allied forces of the Shan Ni militia and the KIA/PDF joint forces.

"It started around 5 p.m. and lasted for almost two hours. My grandmother is already over 80; she can’t run anymore. Since Pinlon is nearby, we heard the fighting very clearly. Both sides are our own citizens. I don't want harm to come from either side. If it gets worse, where could we run to? That night, we couldn’t sleep at all. Around 8 p.m., the sounds faded away," said the resident.

The clash between the two opposing forces occurred at around 5 p.m. on August 1st. The next day, it was reported that security forces began conducting strict checks on locals passing through the gate of the Pinbau police station.

The villages of Pinlon, Pinbaw, and Kun Taungyi are neighboring rural communities, located along the Union Highway connecting Mandalay and Myitkyina.
