According to a statement released by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Kachin Independence Organization/Army (KIO/KIA), a total of 20 clashes occurred within one week in the Bhamaw, Waimaw, and Hpakant frontlines of Kachin State, as well as in the areas of KIA Brigade No. 9, No. 3, and No. 11.
From May 3 to May 9, the military council forces continuously carried out daily attacks on the Bhamaw, Waimaw, and Hpakant frontlines using aircraft, drones, and artillery. Within the week, there were more than 34 drone bombings, over 22 airstrikes, and more than 107 artillery shelling incidents, according to the report.
The majority of airstrikes and artillery attacks occurred in the Bhamo frontline area.
Due to military council offensives, there were 3 defensive battles in the Bhamo frontline, 1 clash in the area of Brigade No. 3, 18 clashes in the Hpakant area under Brigade No. 9, and 2 clashes in the area under Brigade No. 11.
In addition, since the military council continues not only ground offensives but also drone and artillery attacks from the air, the situation remains militarily tense, it said.
In the past week, nearly 25 total engagements and defensive battles occurred between the military council and the KIA joint forces in Kachin region.
